Miles XS 500 - $30,000 Electric Car Goes 80-mph

There is a lot of buzz surrounding hybrid electric cars right now and if all goes well, a company called Miles Automotive Group is hoping to bring a cost-effective battery-powered sedan to the market by 2009. Some sites are even claiming it to be an electric car for the common man. Dubbed XS 500, the car will go 80mph, travel 120 miles at 60mph, and cost $30,000. If we believe what the firm is saying, you can get a full charge in six hours by simply plugging the car into a normal wall socket. The car is about as fast as GM’s late-90s era electric car, the EV 1. Anyway, it will be interesting to see the XS 500’s fate as other big names, including GM and Tesla Motors, have announced plans to introduce vehicles into the low-cost autos segment.
